CheFuKo Foster Project

The CheFuKo Foster Project supports children from unequal backgrounds to continue receiving their educations.
After visiting Nepal for the first time in May of 2015, we began to consider how we could help the local children, who were always smiling despite the difficulties that they faced. We visited group homes and educational facilities in order to investigate local needs, and eventually found several reliable facilities to support.

How the Foster Project works

Most foster child projects involve donors supporting children on a one-on-one basis. At CheFuKo, we divide the donation funds equally between all of the children at the facilities we support. This is because we have learned through local needs assessments that supporting one child causes a rift within the community.

Our dream is to ensure that every child has an equal chance to attend school and pursue their dreams. We ask you to follow the progress of these children as they work towards a better future.

Please consider providing us with your support.

Below are the facilities currently supported by the CheFuKo Foster Project:

Rising Lotus Children’s Village

Rising Lotus Children’s Village (RLCV) gathers children from the poorest regions of Nepal. The facility accepts girls who are often unable to attend school due to their poor social standing and tendency towards early marriage. RLCV currently houses 30 children.

Radha Krishna Community Center

Radha Krishna Community Center currently houses 13 boys from impoverished households. The facility focuses on the study of traditional cultural practices and includes Sanskrit in its curriculum. The children study to become gurus (teachers), a role that is revered within Nepali society.

A donation of 1,000 yen (JPY) per month is enough to change the future of the children of Nepal.

Through our needs assessment, we have found that one child can attend private school with a tuition fee of approximately 1,500 to 2,000 yen per month. An additional 2,500 yen to 5,000 yen per year is required for entrance fees.

The CheFuKo Foster Project asks individuals for a monthly contribution of 1,000 yen, and corporations for a yearly contribution of 30,000 yen. These donations will support each child all the way until graduation.

All funds go directly towards tuition fees.
